The Story

aggieTEACH, a program within the College of Science at Texas A&M, seeks to encourage more math & science majors to become teachers.

The director came to our team hoping to bring more heart and visuals to encourage our science and math majors to consider adding teaching certification to their existing curriculum. Previous efforts were done by program staff in Word.

Through anecdotal research we knew that the program had a simple awareness issue. If we could let students know how simple it was to add the program, the financial benefits and the impact they could have... the program sold itself.

MY ROLE

Lead designer on a team of writers and administrative staff. In preparation I made shot lists based on the storyline, coordinated props, collaborated on day-of decisions & adjustments to production. After production I used visuals captured to create the website — including the design, wireframes and coding in Wordpress — and design and overseeing production of print materials used to promote the program to new students & fundraising arms within the university.

The Pitch

We set out to create a more professional branding (in-line with our university branding) and provided art direction to give them a visual library of photos and a promotional video to show during freshman orientation. Testimonials from current, successful students gives this an implied peer approval.

We also took the existing tagline "Learn. Teach. Impact." to create a simplified 1-2-3 approach to explain how to get involved in aggieTEACH.

The Results

We collaborated with the amazing Igor Kraguljac for our photography and videography needs. Our team did the preparation and coordinated day-of production, while Igor handled the details of directions and shooting. The results of the collaboration were stellar.

Print materials included posters & trifolds to leave in classrooms and on campus in the hopes of recruiting more math & science majors to get their teaching certificate.

A new website was also created, using Wordpress to give it a more modern feel and help limited staff in the program update materials quickly, without any HTML training.
